The NOBEL consortium has been constituted by a group of telecommunications operators, industrial companies and research centres offering wide expertise and technical excellence in the area of optical components and networks. NOBEL partners can be classified into four main categories:
- Network Operators
- Equipment Manufacturers
- Research Centres
- Universities
The european dimension of the 6FP has been carefully addressed in selection of the companies and research centres for the NOBEL consortium. NOBEL partners represent several countries of European union as well as countries which are currently in the process of accessing the community. Partners forming the NOBEL consortium represent large international companies; this is necessary for completing research work and test bed experiment on the most advanced telecommunications technologies. The opportunity of involving companies from the SME sector has been taken into account in selecting the most active and experienced research centres. Technical excellence and assorted experience of NOBEL consortium guarantee achievement of the overall project goals and assure the necessary consortium flexibility in defining next project phases towards providing broadband services for all European citizens.
